A Living Label Empowerment Fund (ALLEF)
Survivors are more than their experiences.
They are leaders, experts, entrepreneurs, students, parents, and changemakers.
The A Living Label Empowerment Fund exists to invest in the potential, leadership, and future of survivors through education, skill-building, apprenticeships, and business development opportunities.
Our goal is to raise $1 million to support 100 survivors in building stronger futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

The Story Behind the Fund
A Living Label was written as both a memoir and a guide.
It chronicles my journey as a survivor, advocate, and subject matter expert while encouraging organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, and communities to engage survivors in ways that are ethical, meaningful, and mutually beneficial.
One of the central messages of the book is that survivors bring valuable knowledge, expertise, and lived experience to the work of creating change.
Our stories matter.
Our expertise matters.
Our contributions matter.
For more than a decade, I have advocated for survivor leadership, meaningful engagement, and equitable compensation for the knowledge survivors contribute.
At the same time, I know firsthand that rebuilding a life requires more than resilience.
It requires opportunity.
The A Living Label Empowerment Fund was created to help turn that belief into action.
Why Opportunity Matters
As a survivor, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to rebuild a life while trying to create stability for yourself and your family.
One opportunity changed the trajectory of my journey.
Through Minnesota’s Family Assets for Independence Program, every dollar I saved was matched with additional funds that allowed me to invest in my future and grow my hair braiding business.
That experience taught me something I have never forgotten: When survivors receive meaningful support, they can create extraordinary outcomes.
The A Living Label Empowerment Fund is inspired by that lesson.
We believe that investing in survivors is not charity.
It is an investment in talent, leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and community impact.
Why Now?
The vision for this fund began more than ten years ago.
Over that time, contributions were raised through The Enitan Story (TES) and the vision remained alive, even as the work evolved.
Today, I am in a different place – one with greater stability, capacity, and a stronger foundation for building this initiative.
In 2026, we successfully launched the SME Impact Forum, bringing together lived experience experts, nonprofits, government agencies, advocates, consultants, and community leaders to strengthen survivor-informed collaboration and systems change.
Building on that momentum, this is the right time to fully activate the A Living Label Empowerment Fund and expand its impact.
The first awards will be presented at the SME Impact Forum in May 2027.
How the Fund Works
The A Living Label Empowerment Fund supports survivors through:
- Formal education programs
- Professional certifications
- Apprenticeships
- Skill-building opportunities
- Business startup support
- Business growth and development
Awards may support individual survivors or, when appropriate, contribute to educational and developmental opportunities for their children or dependents as part of the fund’s commitment to long-term family stability and generational impact.

Transparency & Accountability
The A Living Label Empowerment Fund is administered through The Enitan Story, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All contributions are managed through The Enitan Story and dedicated exclusively to survivor education and business empowerment initiatives.
Direct donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and donors will receive a tax-deductible donation receipt.
We are committed to transparency, accountability, and sharing the impact of this work with our community.
