Introduction
This training is designed to help Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with lived experience learn how to organize themselves as partners and professionals in the anti-human trafficking/exploitation field.
The word “professional” can be triggering for some people, as it has been used to police behavior, tone, or identity in ways that reinforce systemic stereotypes. For many, it carries implications of exclusion, unrealistic expectations, or the need to conform to dominant cultural norms. Recognizing this, it’s important to approach the concept of professionalism with nuance, ensuring it fosters acceptance rather than exclusion.
This is why this training will describe professionalism in a different way. In this training, we want to empower SMEs with lived experience with the tools that will help them engage as consultants in a mutually beneficial manner.
Professionalism does not necessarily mean wearing a suit or carrying a briefcase; instead, it means conducting oneself with responsibility, integrity, accountability, and excellence. It means communicating effectively and appropriately and always finding a way to be productive.

This training is delivered in a series of videos from The Enitan Story delivered by SMEs with lived experience instructors.
