Why take the course?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

SME with Lived Experience Consulting Training was developed and designed by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with lived experience in Human Trafficking\/Exploitation. This training aims to provide information to those with lived experience exploring the possibility of becoming a Subject Matter Expert. The information in this training may be useful for people with other lived experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To understand the topics covered in the training videos, it’s best to follow the order of the modules in the workbook. You can record notes, look up additional resources and glossary terms, answer evaluation questions after each module, and give training feedback in the workbook provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To receive a certificate of completion for this training series, you must complete all 3 modules, module evaluations, and training feedback. A certificate of completion will be emailed once you have completed these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 3 Modules in this training.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Module 1<\/strong> focuses on what a Subject Matter Expert with lived experience is, what to consider when thinking about becoming an SME, different ways SMEs can get\/be involved in the Human Trafficking\/Exploitation movement, and how to start being an SME in healthy ways. We hope that all the information, tools, and resources provided in this training will help prepare you to decide whether or not you want to become an SME.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Module 2 <\/strong> focuses on fair compensation, boundaries, expectations, and contract negotiations. First, a business contract for your services is essential to understand the agency\/organization fees and payment terms, project deliverables, cancellation clauses, and any other expectations or conditions you want to communicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Module 3<\/strong> focuses on tools to help you to determine if you are ready to become a SME.  It will give you tools to help you when you decide to become an SME by teaching you the basics of working in the Human Trafficking\/Exploitation movement. This module talks about the benefits of self-care, asking for what you need, boundaries, recognizing your barriers, how to address those barriers, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
